Welcome to
Catherine Harpham Therapeutic Counselling
Being a person centred counsellor, means I really value your unique experiencing of your world. I listen carefully to what you bring and offer you a space to offload what might be weighing you down. Through offering my compassion and heartfelt understanding , I work to help support you through whatever might feel off balance in your life right now.
I work with adults and young people aged 11 to 17 years. I will be adding more pictures on here, so I can show you what I offer on my counselling table! There are always colouring pens and paper. We might use painting pens, play Jenga or even read/create stories together. For me, it is important to grow a trusting, therapeutic relationship, so you feel able to talk about things that might feel really difficult.
Making the decision to see a counsellor is a big step to take - but it can be a positive one. Please read on to find out more about how I could help you.

The last few years have marked some huge shifts in my life. My children are my world and I am witnessing them preparing to fly the nest. This is a privilege, but also feels really difficult. It is through my children, that I have come to do the work I am doing now. I am forever grateful and massively proud to be their mum. I am also mum to 4 cats and a small dog.
Through my own recent counselling journey, I have had the heartfelt support of my counsellor through the anticipatory loss and eventual death of my Dad. No words can fully describe how this loss has impacted me and will forever. The value of a compassionate voice and her heartfelt words, will always be with me.
I am a Mental Health First Aider with Mental Health Motorbike and enjoy attending occasional motorbike events. Hoping to pass my CBT soon and get on the road as an older, but very excited female biker!
I am a member of the Creative Counsellor's Community and I enjoy making mosaics, coffees out and spending time in nature. I love bugs, slugs and snails! I offer you the opportunity to work creatively, as sometimes words are too hard to find.
I am now offering Walk and Talk sessions in the Widnes area too, so please contact me for further information if you are interested in these.
MY WORK EXPERIENCE
I have worked as a Counsellor at ChildLine and at a Sixth Form College. I have worked as a volunteer counsellor at Cheshire Autism Practical Support in the past, supporting autistic people and their families. I have been in private practice for 4 years now.
I am currently studying the MA Autism Spectrum at Sheffield Hallam University. This is an area that I have a professional and personal interest in.
My full list of continuing professional development is much longer and is always ongoing. I am a work in progress !
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment.
